Installed at the sink
A real BluePeak reverse osmosis install: the dedicated drinking-water faucet at the kitchen sink. The faucet comes in five finishes; this one is brushed gold.
What it does
Reverse osmosis treats a small volume of water very thoroughly at one tap, for drinking and cooking. Where whole-home filtration handles chlorine, sediment, iron and smell across the house, RO is what reduces dissolved solids, lead and other heavy metals, fluoride and nitrate at the tap you actually drink from.
Five stages feed the storage tank: a 5 micron sediment pre-filter, two carbon block filters, a high-rejection (95 to 99 percent) membrane rated at 100 gallons per day, and a coconut shell carbon polishing filter for taste. The water waits in the tank and pours on demand from a dedicated faucet, available in five finishes.
Who it is for
Anyone who wants drinking water treated properly and does not mind the storage tank taking up space in the under-sink cabinet. BluePeak handles the filter changes.
The trade-off against the tankless build is space and flow. Both produce excellent water, so it is a space and convenience decision more than a quality one; both are $999 installed. This system is included free with every whole-home system.
Alkaline remineralization is an optional $49 add-on, installed inline on the RO line. It adds calcium, magnesium and potassium back for a balanced pH and better taste, and the cartridge is replaced yearly.
Questions about this system
Tank-style RO or tankless RO — which one?
Both cost the same, $999 installed. Tank-style holds a reserve of filtered water and needs no power, but the tank eats most of your under-sink cabinet and flow drops as the tank empties. Tankless produces on demand at 800 gallons per day, gives you your cabinet back, and doesn’t run out during a dinner party. Both produce excellent water. It’s a space and convenience decision more than a quality decision.
What’s the difference between whole-home filtration and reverse osmosis?
Whole-home treats every drop entering the house — showers, laundry, dishwasher, ice maker. Reverse osmosis treats a small volume very thoroughly at one tap, usually the kitchen sink, for drinking and cooking. They’re complements, not competitors. Whole-home handles chlorine, sediment, iron and smell. RO handles dissolved solids and lead at the tap you drink from. That’s why every whole-home system we sell includes an RO system free.
How often do RO filters get changed?
Pre-filters and post-filters roughly annually, the membrane every two to four years depending on your water and your usage. We’ll tell you what your specific system needs and when.
What’s an alkaline remineralizer and do I need one?
Reverse osmosis removes nearly everything, including beneficial minerals, which leaves the water tasting flat to some people. A remineralizer adds a small amount of mineral content back and nudges the pH up. It’s a taste preference. Some people strongly prefer it, some can’t tell. It’s a $49 add-on on either BluePeak reverse osmosis system, installed inline on the RO line, and the cartridge is replaced yearly.
